Golden Gate Peacocks…Bass, That Is (near Naples, Florida)

Late July 2021

I’m pleased to report that the August/September 2021 issue of Florida Sportsman, in the “Hidden Gems” section, features my recent article about chasing exotic Peacock Bass in the freshwater canals of Golden Gate Estates with Guide Mark Rose and my fishing buddy Bob Wayne. See below to read or download the article:

  1. As I prepare to depart for the COCHETOPA and Saguache on Monday. I have taken time again to enjoy more musings of the Itinerant Angler! Hoping our paths cross on the stream! I thoroughly enjoy your posts and getting to see your granddaughter grow up! Joe Gunn

    1. Thx Joe! Glad you’re enjoying the articles. I fished lower Cochetopa on the Coleman Ranch lease a week ago and it was very low due to irrigation draw down. Archuleta Creek above the confluence with Cochetopa had more water and the fishing was good. Upper Saguache should have plenty of water and upper Cochetopa probably will too with all the monsoon rain we’re getting. Good luck. Let me know how you fare. Thx. Chris
